1. Visit Ober Gatlinburg

And spend the day skiing or snowboarding. If that’s not your thing, check out the snow tubing! For those that love snow, this is about your best bet for finding it in Tennessee.

2. Brave the cold and camp out together

Take a trip to Max Patch or Roan Mountain and set up camp. Wake up early to watch the sunrise together and then hightail it out of there to the warmth of your car. This isn’t for the faint of heart because it will certainly be chilly, but that’s even more reason to cuddle up together!

Pro tip: bring some Yeti bottles filled with hot chocolate or coffee to keep you warm.

3. Watch the sunset at a local spot

Everyone has a favorite sunset spot, but we know of a few great ones. Head to Sunset Rock in Chattanooga or The Bluffs overlooking Knoxville for a great view of the sunset over the city. Bring along your Eno hammock and plenty of blankets to stay cozy while you wait.

4. Take a quick trip to Hot Springs, NC and soak in the natural spring water

Hot Springs a cute town with a handful of restaurants and shops as well as nearby hiking trails, but the town’s most popular attraction, as you might’ve guessed by its namesake, is the hot spring spa. Water from underground hot springs is pumped into hot tubs at the spa. You can rent a private outdoor tub for an hour at varying prices. If that doesn’t say romantic, we don’t know what does.

5. Take a winter hike

You might be amazed at how a change of season can completely transform your favorite trails. From the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the Cumberland Trail, the opportunities in Tennessee are endless. Waterfall hikes are exceptionally gorgeous in the winter! Just remember to bundle up with warm socks, proper hiking shoes and plenty of hot hands – especially for higher elevations!

6. Build a fire, make s’mores, drink hot cocoa

You get the gist here. Find a fire pit and dig out those blankets. Spike that hot cocoa if you want. If your winter date looks anything like the pic above, we’re pretty sure you’ll have a good time. At the very least, you can Instagram it.

7. Ride go-karts in Pigeon Forge

Nothing’s wrong with a little friendly competition. Afterward, you can make a whole day of it and entertain yourselves with the abundance of tourist attractions Pigeon Forge has to offer.

8. Go on a local beer run

Lace up your favorite pair of Brooks or Hokas and head out to a local brewery or restaurant for a beer run. You can get in some physical activity then treat yourselves to drinks after. Many places also offer discounts to the runners. Here’s a round up of beer runs in Knoxville, but there’s a good chance they happen in whatever city you’re closest to.
